- Gravel : 50 %
- Clay-limestone : 25 %
- Siliceous : 25 %

  Situated on the summit of the "Premières Côtes de Bordeaux", Château Lafitte is remarkably well-exposed to the sun :.
The harmonious character of Château Lafitte's wine is due to the subtle blend of several grape varietes :

- Merlot : 50 %, gives a soft, rounded wine in the mouth, with fruity, spicy aromas.
- Cabernet franc : 10 % brings finesse and bouquet
- Cabernet - Sauvignon : 30 %, robust and elegant, rich in tannin, produces excellent ageing potential.
- Malbec : 10 % good vinosity and softness.
